Tim Scheirer, originally from eastern Pennsylvania, relocated to southern Maryland early in 1982. He came to assume the position of Exhibits Planner for St. Mary's City 17th Century Historic Park. A graduate of Kutztown State University, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Mr. Scheirer also attended the former York Academy of Arts in York, PA. As a Second Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy, he worked as an illustrator and draftsman heading the drafting facility for the intelligence department of the Admiral's staff, U. S. Taiwan Defense Command, Taipei, Taiwan. While abroad, Mr. Scheirer pursued studies of Chinese art and philosophy. The study of jade has been of particular interest. Tim has pursued professional employment with several custom and restoration automotive firms. It is from this background that he has gained the knowledge of materials and techniques. He uses these to produce exterior murals and exhibits for private individuals as well as public parks and museums. Since 1984, Mr. Scheirer has been involved with a number of unique historic architectural restoration projects. They were done under the guidance of Mr. Othmar Carli, noted restorations, artist, and former York Academy of Arts professor. Pursuing his individual art projects, Tim has been producing wall hanging as well as free standing metal sculptures. In recent years, Tim has worked for Zoo New England, Boston, MA, helping to design and construct animal habitats. Mr. Scheirer was formerly employed in the Exhibits Department of the Calvert Marine Museum, Solomons, MD since 1999.
